So I thought it might be time that I officially introduced myself to you, seeing how much my page has grown recently. I'm Marike Smith, the artist and face behind That Girl Who Bakes Cookies. I could never have imagined where this journey would take me and how quickly it all happened. I feel incredibly blessed to have such amazing customers like you! My cookie journey started in September 2019, not even a year ago. I taught myself, practised a whole lot, and then created this page, not knowing how quickly this would become my passion and full-time career. Orders started trickling in, and before I knew it I was fully-booked months in advance. While I was always very creative and love being artistic, I never imagined I would do anything baking-related as a career! I actually studied photography and it's become an incredibly helpful skill to have - taking beautiful photos of my creations. Cookies aren't the only thing keeping my hands full. I also have Reed, my 2 year old boy, who keeps mommy on her toes the whole day. Doing cookies, being a stay-at-home mommy and running a household isn't always easy, and more often than not I see the early hours of the morning before I fall into bed next to my ever understanding husband. Thank you for being a part of this unfolding journey! I'm excited about this road and where it leads, and can't wait to share it with all of my amazing customers.
